Bhutan is located on the slopes of the Himalayas between China, India and Tibet. It is hilly and the Elevation rises from 200 m in the southern foothills to more than 7,000 m near its peak. This great geographical diversity combined with equally diverse climate conditions contributes to Bhutan’s outstanding range of biodiversity and ecosystems. It is the first country in the world that is Carbon Neutral. In fact, they are Carbon Negative.
Tshering Tobgay is the Prime Minister of Bhutan since 2013. He is the leader of the People’s Democratic Party. In this talk, Tshering Tobgay shared about the promise that Bhutan will remain Carbon Neutral for Life and why the rest of the world should follow suite as well. He also emphasized that having a sense of identity, purpose and becoming happy is important for the well being of the person and the country.
This is indeed a great wisdom that all of us can learn from Bhutan and to put into practice what all citizens of the world should be doing to preserve the Earth For Life. If Bhutan can do it, so can any other countries in the world.
