Shakyamuni Buddha (Also Siddhārtha Gautama or Gautama Buddha and The Buddha was a spiritual teacher of ancient India who lived more than 2,500 years ago. He was the founder of Buddhism and is revered by Buddhists as an Enlightened being whose teachings sought a path to freedom from ignorance, craving, rebirth and suffering.
According to legend, before the Buddha was born, he was a very tall Bodhisattva called “The Bodhisattva of Replenishing Virtues in a Lifetime”. He lived in the inner court of Tushita Heaven and was born in Kapilavatthu due to the ripening of causes and conditions. His father was King Suddhodana, and Lady Maya died seven days after the prince was born. He was raised by his aunt Lady Mahapajapati. Prince Sakyamuni Buddha was gifted and intelligent at that time. He had mastered the five enlightenments and the four Vedas since he was a child. He also had a majestic appearance, with thirty-two characteristics and eighty good qualities, which no one could match.
When he was 17 years old, Buddha married his cousin Yasodhara as his concubine and gave birth to his son Rahula before becoming a monk. Although the prince’s aristocratic life was rich and comfortable, he observed the disparity between the rich and the poor in society and the inequality among the four surnames, as well as the struggles between living beings. The Buddha also felt that people have the suffering of birth, old age, sickness and death, and the impermanence of life, so he Arouse the desire to become a monk and seek liberation, and wish to liberate yourself. Finally, on the eighth day of February when he was 19 years old, he left the palace at night and became a monk to practice Taoism (of course, it is also recorded in historical records that he was 29 years old). Later, we Buddhist beings regarded the eighth day of the second lunar month as the day for Sakyamuni Buddha to become a monk, and corresponding Dharma gatherings were held in various temples and major temples. Do extensive meritorious deeds among Buddhists, use this good day to dedicate and pray for all sentient beings to be free from suffering and achieve happiness, and to pray for the Buddha’s day to be brighter (that is, the Buddha’s day will be more bright). So why are you allowed to recite sutras more often on Buddha’s days? Increase your glorious Buddha nature, the righteous Dharma will last for a long time, the country will be peaceful and the people are safe, and all living beings will be liberated.
The Buddha preached and saved countless people throughout his life. He was also persecuted by some heretics at that time and suffered various disasters. According to the Buddhist scripture “Buddha Speaks of the Rise and Execution Sutra”, the Buddha experienced Sundari’s slander against the Buddha, and the war with Zhennu, who tied a basin and tied it with a rope. They said that the child was the Buddha’s. Unexpectedly, the basin was not tied tightly and fell down on the spot, exposing the secret). There were also Shemibha slandering the Buddha, being stabbed in the foot with a wooden spear, bleeding from being thrown by a stone, eating horse wheat, and suffering. Ten times of suffering from walking, headache, back pain, joint pain, etc. In fact, the true body of the Buddha is the Dharmakaya, and the Dharmakaya has no birth or death. The Buddha should cause these disasters for the sake of all living beings. The main purpose is to let all living beings know that the retribution of karma will not be lost, and to make all living beings fear their own karma (that is, to be afraid, not to If you no longer cherish the physical body), you can stop evil and do good, and realize the eternal Dharma body. Therefore, every action of the Buddha is to save us.
The Buddha taught the Dharma for forty-nine years, and when he was eighty years old, he was still working tirelessly, leading his disciples around to preach. When he came to Nirvana, the Buddha still did not abandon all sentient beings. Before his nirvana, he accepted a heretic named Subhadra who was over 100 years old and became his last disciple. In the past, he was called a “closed disciple”. When the Buddha entered Nirvana, his disciples were grieved. The Buddha taught them: “You want the Buddha to live in the world forever, which is against the natural rules of Dharma. The Buddha is the manifester of the truth of the universe and cannot violate the Dharma.” The Buddha once He taught his disciples: “If you can’t act according to my teachings, even if I live for thousands of years, what use will it be to you? If you can follow my teachings, it will be like me living forever. You must strengthen your faith, Take refuge in the Dharma, act according to the Dharma, and do not take refuge in others; you must study the holy path diligently, free yourself from troubles, and stay calm. This is my true disciple.” The Buddha clearly told his disciples not to be sad, because everything in the world will be destroyed after it is born. , people will die when they are alive, and separation will inevitably occur when there is union. This is the law of the truth of impermanence. Therefore, the life of the Buddha brought us Buddhism, which has benefited our descendants to this day.
